7 promises - change the climate changes
500 people from more than 50 countries participated in a Come 2gether climate-camp on one of 9 Danish Folk High Schools in August 2009. The camps had very different ways of focusing on new knowledge, new ideas and new networks for continued engagement. The participants brought and shared ideas, goals and concrete suggestions for solutions to the climate change. 9 x 7 promises was cooked down to 7 common promises, which were presented at a big public event in Copenhagen at the end of the climate-camp week. The 7 promises for the future points out tangible ways of action. They focus on concrete ideas for solving the climate issues that are cross-disciplinary and across sectors of the society. They are made by people, relate to people and are based on general scientific knowledge, international cooperation and engaged people’s dreams of the future.
The idea is, that the 7 promises forms a central frame for continued debate, exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences throughout the world.
And here they are:
1. Spread the message share knowledge, educate, active global citizens
2. Consume less and smarter - thereby influencing the production
3. Advocate climate solutions - lobbying for political frames and that furthers sustainable action
4. Learn from nature - include nature’s solutions, learn from nature, indigenous knowledge, organic products, plant trees and other CO2 sinks
5. Be the example in our everyday life: energy – transportation - recycling – sustainable lifestyle
6. Care for people humanity, harmony, hope, cooperation, fair trade, food security
7. ACT NOW continue to care and keep hoping
